When Noa is a child in Hawaii, he falls into the water and is returned to his family by sharks. Noa and his brother and sister all end up on the mainland seeking their own paths, but the island is calling them. I expected the novel to be more fantasy-oriented than it ended up being, but it was definitely still a good novel.
