Date Read: May 6 Authors: William D. O’Grady, John Archibald, Mark Aronoff, and Janie Rees-Miller Genre: Nonfiction I finally got around to reading the entirety of my textbook, just in time for the final. It wasn’t quite as interesting as the other books I’ve been reading, but it was probably longer.

Paradiso
Date Read: April 29 Author: Dante Alighieri Genre: Classics This is the third and final book of the Divine Comedy, preceded by Inferno and Purgatorio. I found Paradiso a little boring, particularly in comparison to the depictions of hell and purgatory in the other two parts of the Divine Comedy. In Paradiso everything is perfect,Continue reading “Paradiso”
Purgatorio
Date Read: April 20 Author: Dante Alighieri Genre: Classics Another book for English class. Dante’s Divine Comedy continues, as Dante moves from Inferno to purgatory. While Inferno may be more widely known than Purgatorio, I still enjoyed reading Dante’s depiction of purgatory.
Inferno
Date Read: April 15 Author: Dante Alighieri Genre: Classics In the English class I am taking, we are reading the entirety of the Divine Comedy. I hadn’t ever read Inferno before, and the poetry was more beautiful than I expected. Overall, the Inferno was better than I expected it to be, and I am lookingContinue reading “Inferno”
The Conference of the Birds
Date Read: March 30 Author: Farid Attar Rating: 3/5 This is another book for one of my classes, and I just don’t like it as much as I’ve enjoyed other books. I don’t really like poetry, so I doubt I would have picked it up if not for my class.
The Holy Bible
Date Read: March 26 Genre: School This was one of the required texts for my English course.
The Language Instinct
Date Read: March 7 Author: Steven Pinker Genre: Nonfiction Rating: 3/5 While it was interesting to read about how language develops, at times the author went into too many technical details and it became dry and difficult to read.
The Aeneid
Date Read: February 19 Author: Virgil This is another book for my English class. I enjoyed it more than reading philosophy, but I do not enjoy poetry very much, and so reading The Aeneid was too much poetry for my taste.
Tao Te Ching
Date Read: February 8 Author: Lao-Tzu Another book for my English class. I enjoyed Lao-Tzu more than Confucius, and was happy to realize that I recognized a few of the Chinese characters in the margins.
The Analects of Confucius
Date Read: February 3 Author: Confucius This is another book that I read for English, and I enjoyed it more than Nichomachean Ethics.
